In my own counselling, the most powerful moments were when I felt safe to explore my feelings and experience. With my therapist as a witness, I was able to go deeper and make lasting changes. This allowed me to move forward in my life where previously I felt stuck in a loop. Before counselling, I thought that I needed to figure out all the challenges I faced on my own. Or I'd minimize their impact by avoiding or ignoring the consequences.
In working with a therapist, I began to unpack ideas on how past experiences and current success had reinforced patterns that no longer helped me get what I wanted out of life. I began to understand my inner world's effect on my outer world, despite my best efforts to control everything to create external success. I began to see my emotions as teachers, which helped me feel more connected and less alone.
If you choose to work with me, I will listen without judgment to your feelings and goals. Together we will create trust and the safety to explore. I will offer guidance and teach skills when needed. But you are in the driver's seat of our work together.
I am excited to be working under the supervision of Dale Trimble, a therapist with over 40 years of experience as a therapist, supervisor and now senior faculty member with the AEDP Institute. Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy works by undoing clients' aloneness, using in-depth processing of difficult emotional and relational experiences. The AEDP therapist fosters new and healing experiences for the client and more resources, resilience and a renewed zest for life.
In my personal life, you may find me playing beach volleyball at one of Vancouver's many beaches, hiking one of our nearby beautiful mountains, or riding my bicycle around Stanley Park. I am currently making space to appreciate the outdoors' incredible value, which I took for granted as a child growing up here on the west coast.
